Budget 2012 sees 1.5 million families to benefit from $5 billion from mining tax – Infographic

SOME $5 billion intended for company tax cuts will be diverted to 1.5 million families as the Government harnesses the mining tax for a welfare splurge.

And Tony Abbott’s Opposition will be challenged to demand that the money be taken from families and returned to families.

“This Labor Government knows that for too many Australians this feels like someone else’s mining boom, someone else’s prosperity,” Treasurer Wayne Swan told Parliament tonight.

“So tonight from the firm foundation of a surplus Budget, we announce new policies to spread the benefits of the boom.”
