Iran issues a warning for America after attacking spy drone

Following confirmation from both sides that an American surveillance drone was fired at by Iranian jets, top brass with Iran’s military say the country won’t hesitate to shoot again next time a US craft enters its airspace.

“The defenders of the Islamic Republic will respond decisively to any form of encroachment by air, sea or on the ground,” Brig. Gen. Massoud Jazayeri, a senior armed forces commander, told the Fars news agency in a report published on Friday.

One day earlier, the Pentagon admitted that an unmanned aerial vehicle managed by the US Defense Department escaped unscathed from enemy fire during a routine surveillance mission 16 miles outside of Iran on November 1. Iranians do not contest that account entirely, but do dispute America’s claim in regards to where exactly the incident occurred. According to the Pentagon, the drone was targeted last week while flying far enough off of the Iranian coast that it was considered to be in international territory. While Iran has declined to offer an exact number to counter America’s claims of being 16 nautical miles off land, remarks from foreign defense officials suggest that the US could have been closer.

Comments from both Gen. Jazayeri and Brig. Gen. Ahmad Vahidi, Iran’s minister of defense, suggest that the US aircraft was within 12 miles from the Iranian coast, making it fair game for that country’s air force to open fire.

“If any foreign aircraft attempts to enter our airspace our armed forces will deal with them,” says Jazayeri, who also serves as the deputy chairman to the country’s chief of staff. Jazayeri failed to specifically imply he was discussing the drone, but made his comments hours after the Pentagon confirmed that their craft was fired at.

According to the New York Times, Iran also disputes where the shooting actually originated from. Initially, the US says two airplanes controlled by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps shot at the drone. As far as Gen. Vahidi, the defense minister, is concerned, that’s incorrect. The Times writes that Vahidi believes “the two Iranian planes, which the Pentagon had identified as Russian-made Su-25 jets known as Frogfoots, belonged to the Iranian Air Force.” The paper notes that America’s insistence that the attack came from the Guard Corps pins the blame on a group “whose activities are routinely more aggressive than the conventional Air Force.”

George Little, Pentagon press secretary, told reporters on Thursday that the United States has every intention of continuing its routine spy missions from international territory outside of Iran.

“The United States has communicated to the Iranians that we will continue to conduct surveillance flights over international waters, over the Arabian Gulf, consistent with longstanding practices and our commitment to the security of the region,” Little said.

Contesting Iran’s claims of being in their own airspace, Little added, “Our aircraft was never in Iranian airspace. It was always flying in international airspace.”

In a briefing released by the Stratfor intelligence group, they suggest that the US will do little to avoid any possible future altercations like last week’s. “It should be remembered that they were shooting at an unmanned aircraft, which was created in part so that no human life would be at risk if it was shot down. That doesn’t mean the United States is casual about losing a very expensive piece of hardware. It does mean that the U.S. military is unlikely to suspend operations,” writes Stratfor. “Clearly the United States doesn’t mind making the Iranians nervous.”

The assault is believed to be the first time during a 30-year plus standoff between the two countries that Iran opened fire on an American UAV. Last year, Iran hijacked one of those unmanned drones well within their territory during what the US called a routine reconnaissance mission.

Scores of Twitter users have flooded the social networking site announcing their plans to go on looting sprees once Hurricane Sandy makes landfall, as the New York National Guard announced it would put troops on duty in Long Island to prevent such activity.

1,175 New York National Guard troops have been mobilized to “provide command and control and logistical support” in New York City, Long Island, the Hudson Valley and the Southern Tier. According to NBC New York, the troops will also be on hand to “protect against looting.”

They might well be needed given the fact that a deluge of Twitter users are using the website to appeal to others to join them in exploiting the chaos generated by the superstorm to ransack stores.

Obama and Romney: War No Matter Who Wins Election

Once again emphasizing there is no fundamental difference between Obama and Romney when it comes to attacking Iran, the American Jewish Committee has published the answers to a questionnaire sent to the candidates.

From the Jewish Telegraphic Agency website:

“I am prepared to use all elements of American power” to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, Obama said in the questionnaires released Oct. 18 by the AJC, “including a political effort to further isolate Iran, a diplomatic effort to sustain our coalition, an economic effort that has imposed crippling sanctions, and a military effort to be prepared for any contingency.”

Romney’s response was nearly identical:

“I will press for ever tightening sanctions on the regime, acting multilaterally where we can and unilaterally where we must, and leave no doubt in the mind of the regime’s leaders that the military option remains on the table.”

Romney tried to make political points by sucking up to Israel and the Israeli lobby in the United States: “Unlike President Obama, I understand that distancing the U.S. from Israel doesn’t earn us credibility in the Arab world or bring peace closer,” he said. “Instead, it encourages Palestinians to hold out and wait for Washington to deliver more Israeli concessions.”

Romney said he plans to create “regional directors” who “will possess unified budgetary and policy authority.”

The JTA’s response to this development: “With such powers concentrated in an individual, pro-Israel groups would likely closely watch and want to influence whomever a Romney administration would name to the Middle East post.”

In fact, pro-Israel neocons already dictate Romney’s Middle East foreign policy. Fifteen of the 22 members of Romney’s foreign policy team were policy advisers under Bush, and six of them are former members of PNAC, Joseph Sarkisian points out.

Neocons from the American Enterprise Institute, the Brookings Institute, and the Hudson Institute dominate Romney’s advisors. “The American-Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) thinks highly of these policy advisers, who are all ardent supporters of the Israeli desire to end Iran’s nuclear program with force if necessary,” writes Sarkisian.

“Just like in Iraq, there is no verifiable proof of WMD in Iran, yet once again the same group of people want to use the same methods to start a similar war for the interests of the few, with no regard for the consequences,” he concludes.

Poll results are, of course, highly misleading, but if we are to believe the latest results Romney and Obama are locked in a dead heat sixteen days out from the election.

Establishment fount Forbes predicts that if Obama gets re-elected, Israel will attack Iran in January, a move that will undoubtedly be supported by the United States.

Despite Romney’s coterie of neocons, Democrat Chuck Schumer believes Obama is more likely to attack Iran than his opponent. “I’ll tell you this on Iran, and I’ve said this to a couple of Romney supporters who agree, that if the sanctions fail, and military action is warranted, a re-elected President Obama is far more likely to launch that kind of military action, probably in concert with Israel, than would Mitt Romney,” Schumer told CNN in September.

Following Obama’s lackadaisical performance during the first debate, his administration “leaked” a plan for striking Iran’s nuclear facilities. CFR member and visiting scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, David Rothkopf, wrote in Foreign Policy earlier this month that the White House and Israeli officials “assert that the two sides behind the scenes have come closer together in their views [regarding Iran] in recent days.”

Rothkopf quoted a “source close to the discussions” as saying that a surgical strike aimed at Iran’s enrichment facilities “might take only ‘a couple of hours’” at best and would be conducted by air using bombers and drones.

Despite the outcome of the election, a strike on Iran – limited, surgical or otherwise – will occur within the next few months, if not weeks.

Boys — like girls — hitting puberty earlier

Boys in the United States are starting puberty earlier than ever, according to a new study publishing in the November issue of the journal Pediatrics.

In the study, lead author Marcia Herman-Giddens from the University of North Carolina’s School of Public Health and her colleagues show that boys are starting to sexually develop six months to two years earlier than medical textbooks say is standard.

This research has been a long time coming. Herman-Giddens first documented early puberty in girls in 1997, and several studies have since backed up those findings.

The global elite has reached a decision that could spell the end of humanity as we know it in the decades to come. Having become superfluous in the eyes of those who plan to impose a technocracy over the entire planet, robots will be used to both replace and eliminate humans as the elite advances towards its much cherished technological singularity.

The rise of the robots is no longer confined to the realms of science fiction. If the predictions of those who have already proven themselves accurate in forecasting the future course of technological development are manifested, a new high-tech dark age is upon us.

In our previous article on the subject, we highlighted a piece written in 2000 by Sun Microsystems Bill Joy. In the Wired Magazine article, Why The Future Doesn’t Need Us, Joy explains how within decades most of the functions now carried out by human workers will be performed by robots.

With the vast majority of human beings rendered obsolete in the eyes of the controllers as a result of this shift, which will easily outstrip even the impact of the industrial revolution, the elite, “may simply decide to exterminate the mass of humanity,” writes Joy.

Joy’s forecast is echoed by respected author, inventor and futurist Ray Kurzweil. In his 1999 book The Age of Spiritual Machines, Kurzweil made a series of predictions about technological advancements that would occur at each 10-year juncture. Kurzweil’s short term predictions were stunningly accurate – he foresaw the rise of the iPhone and smart phones in general as well as the Kindle.

Kurzweil predicted that by 2009, “Computer displays have all the display quality of paper—high resolution, high contrast, large viewing angle, and no flicker. Books, magazines, and newspapers are now routinely read on displays that are the size of, well, small books.”

Kurzweil also described the iPad ten years before its emergence as well as the rise of wireless telephone communications using “high-resolution moving images.” He also foresaw iTunes, You Tube and on demand services like Netflix as well as how all this technology would prompt a huge debate about privacy and identity theft, which is exactly what has occurred.

Kurzweil forecast that unmanned drones would be used for combat operations by 2009, which also unfolded.

Given his accuracy, Kurzweil’s predictions for future decades – 2019, 2029 and beyond – are chilling.

By 2019 Kurzweil predicts that our computers will be implanted in eye glasses and contact lenses, a process already underway with the development of Google Glasses. By this time, a $4000 computer will have the same computing power as a human brain, according to Kurzweil.

“Privacy continues to be a major political and social issue with each individual’s practically every move stored in a database somewhere,” writes Kurzweil, a notable forecast given recent revelations about the Trapwire program.

The decades beyond 2019 will be characterized by the problem of a growing “human underclass” that is not productively engaged in the economy.

From 2029 onwards, the elite will see its dream of obtaining singularity – man merging with machine – begin to take true shape. Computers and cellphones will now be implanted in people’s eyes and ears.

The wider trend of the elite seeing humans as completely expendable as their roles are taken up by machines now unfolds. “There is almost no human employment in production, agriculture, and transportation,” writes Kurzweil.

By 2099, the entire planet is run by artificially intelligent computer systems which are smarter than the entire human race combined – similar to the Skynet system fictionalized in the Terminator franchise.

Humans who have resisted altering themselves by becoming part-cyborg will be ostracized from society.

“Even among those human intelligences still using carbon-based neurons, there is ubiquitous use of neural implant technology, which provides enormous augmentation of human perceptual and cognitive abilities. Humans who do not utilize such implants are unable to meaningfully participate in dialogues with those who do,” writes Kurzweil.

Kurzweil’s future represents the ultimate goal of the elite – eliminating the beautiful existing order and replacing it with a high-tech dystopian technocracy. Instead of being used to empower and advance humanity, technology will be used to further drive a wedge between the haves and the have nots – with the have nots eventually being eliminated entirely.

We are have already seen major steps taken towards the vision outlined by Kurzweil.

Using drones to remove the human element of warfare is already well underway. In the future, wars will almost exclusively be fought between robots, making them far more ubiquitous and far more deadly for the planet as a whole. Would robots with no emotional capacity whatsoever hesitate to deploy super weapons that could wipe out entire races of people or completely wreck the planet’s eco-system?

Using robots to perform law enforcement duties and hunt down suspects is also right around the corner.

Following Professor Noel Sharkey’s warning that the fleet of robots being developed for DARPA will ultimately be used to “kill people,” Boston Dynamics released a new video this week showcasing how its LS3 robot is able to autonomously track humans over rugged terrain.

A similar robot being developed for DARPA, the Cheetah, recently beat the human world speed record.

In 2008, the Pentagon issued a request to contractors to develop a “Multi-Robot Pursuit System” designed to search for, detect and track “non-cooperative” humans in “pursuit/evasion scenarios”.

As the New Scientist’s Paul Marks explains, the robots will inevitably will be adapted for domestic purposes such as policing and crowd control.

“…how long before we see packs of droids hunting down pesky demonstrators with paralysing weapons? Or could the packs even be lethally armed?” Marks asked.

Using technology to spy on and enslave us rather than empower us is now a routine occurrence. One need only note the remarks of CIA Director David Petraeus earlier this year when he lauded the arrival of the smart grid – appliances, utilities and products connected wirelessly to the Internet.

Petraeus labeled the development a “transformation,” noting that it would be a boon for “clandestine tradecraft.” In other words, the police or the FBI no longer need a reason or a warrant to spy on you since you will have a hundred bugs implanted in almost every item in your home, from your refrigerator to your gaming device.

The elite’s push to facilitate the rise of the robots is all about removing the decision-making process from the hands of humans. SInce humans cannot be trusted to follow through on decisions that could directly lead to the deaths of massive numbers of people, androids must be given the responsibility.

In the coming decades, humanity will face a new kind of enslavement – a scientifically designed tyranny through which the elite will use robots to subjugate the rest of humanity and eliminate any pockets of non-cooperative resistance.

Only by promulgating a cultural and societal disgust for technological manipulation on behalf of an insane elite can we re-assert control over the future and use technology to empower our species.

Given that the elite have proven themselves to be so destructive with the comparatively primitive level of human technology available to them up until now, allowing such power-crazed individuals to hold the reigns of human progress will only lead to the total destruction of the entire race in the long term.
